Is there a way to actually carve love? I believe that this might truly show Heart....

I would like to introduce you to Mariya. She is a self taught wood carver from Bulgaria. She found that after years as a very talented wood carver, she fell in love with the idea of hair forks. It was the pages of Etsy that she found her first inspiration. When she saw that others were creating these items and that she could use mixed mediums like semi precious stones, bone, antlers and her already developed carving talent to make breathtaking pieces, she knew she had something to work with.

The pieces that Mariya creates are like nothing I have ever seen. She combines only naturally fallen animal products. Making sure that no animals are harmed in the making of her gorgeous items. The end result, hair pieces that will amaze you. They are carved to perfection, oiled and shaped in such a way that will make you wonder how she can possibly do this by hand. The detail is incredible.

I can see many a bride picking a piece from the MariyaArts Collections to wear on their special day. It would definitely be an heirloom that you would want to pass down. The craftsmanship and artistry that goes into each and every detail of the piece makes every single one special in its own way.

I would love to see Mariya during her process, as she developed a hair fork, from the beginning. I think that to watch it come to life would be quite amazing for me. I can only imagine how much fun it is to watch, as each curve takes shape and the design forms.

I know that we are all artists, in our own way. Some art, I think I appreciate more than others, this really impresses me. To take something raw from nature and make something so amazingly beautiful out of it. I just love it. I really want you guys to stop by and check out MariyaArts. Show her some love, buy an amazing piece for your hair, or the hair of someone you love. You can also find her wood carvings at the other MariyaArts. Those are quite incredible as well.

Mariya is also on Facebook , Pinterest , Twitter , Wanelo , YouTube , Lumberjocks , and Her Blog. Make sure and check her out in all of these places as well...

Now.. if, after you do all of that, you feel like stopping by Trampleedesigns and seeing what I have new in the shop this week, I would greatly appreciate it...

I would like for you to meet Karen from the Shop Karen Sperling. She creates beautiful hand paintings of just about anything you could imagine. She does incredible Facial and Pet Portrait work. She can create for you a beautiful portrait that will provide for you a lifelong reminder of that moment in time. Her Landscape and Floral Paintings are also absolutely breathtaking.

Karen comes from an art background, I guess if you wanted to, you could say it is "in here blood". Her mother was an artist and exposed her at a young age. Growing up in a New York suburb gave her the perfect opportunity for exposure. She was afforded the chance to visit the City's Museums and Galleries, and develop an appreciation for art and artistic ability that most of us only dream of. I can only imagine what living in that environment as a child would have been like. This lead her to pursue Art as part of her education. Later, Karen lived in London and was able to appreciate and experience much of the Art in the Galleries and Museums from many locations in Europe. Karen has had Gallery showings of her Abstract Work in New York and in Miami during Art Basel

When discussing with Karen her artwork, she explains "I see art s a visual conversation between the artist and the viewer. As an artist I can express my thoughts and feelings about the subject and s the viewer you can see the work based on your thoughts and feelings. You may either get exactly what I was trying to say, or you my read something into the work that I didn't even realize or intend to put there. I think that's the fascinating part about art, that it evokes strong feelings and reactions that touch that artist and the viewer, regardless of whether it is in the same way".

I picked this particular picture of Karen's Pet Portrait to show you because it looks just like my baby Coco. It is an absolutely gorgeous rendering. I cannot even begin to imagine the work that goes into such a piece. Then again, I do not have this kind of talent. Karen however, really does, she also likes all kinds of art from Renaissance Art and Impressionism through Abstract and Pop Art. In looking through her Shop Karen Sperling you can truly see the different influences in her pieces.

As a part of this series, I specifically ask each participant to tell me what it is they do in times of struggle. I particularly liked the answer that Karen gave. "Oysters make pearls as a reaction to an irritant. That's kind of how an artist makes art. The struggle is the irritant, whether the struggle is financial, personal, intellectual or emotional. The answer to what has kept me going in times of struggle is, it's all a struggle and I think a struggle is good for art."

You can find Karen on Twitter , Facebook , Pinterest , Or of course, by visiting her Shop

I would like to remind everyone that the All Things Etsy Series is Created for Members of the Board

If you have the time, please stop by Trampleedesigns and see what we have new in the Shop this week...

First of all, let me say that the absolute coolest thing about having your own blog, you can write about whatever you want, whenever you want. No one can tell you otherwise. It is AWESOME.

The other day, I called my friend Sonya, and asked her what she was doing, her reply kind of shocked me. She said that she was going to get her hair washed. I made this funny face. "Washed?" I asked. "Have you gotten that lazy?" She said "You would not believe how this girl massages my head, it feels amazing." Then, I was jealous. Now, I want my hair washed. I want my hair washed all the time. I want her hair wash girl to wash my hair every time I have to wash my hair. Every time I reach for my shampoo, I think, I don't want to be doing this, I want to be sitting in a chair, letting someone massage my scalp while they are doing this.

The only part of someone else washing my hair that bothers me, is the same reason I do not allow them to wash it when I get is trimmed, I don't use their products. Of course, I convince myself, I could always take my own products to the hair wash girl. I have this all figured out, I could just carry my own products to the hair wash girl each and every time I need to wash my hair and have the hair wash girl (who really needs a name, so that I stop calling her the hair wash girl) wash my hair. Then, I think about the fact that I now wash my hair every two days, because it gets too dry to wash it every day. If it cost $10 per wash, that's  approximately 15 washes a month, that is $150 a month, just to have my hair washed. Wow, there is no way I could afford that.

So, now I am in the market for a new hair wash girl. I need someone cheaper. This leaves me asking everyone I know if they will wash my hair for a cheaper rate. Of course, I have to vet them and make sure that they are willing to also massage my scalp while they are washing my hair. Isn't that the reason that I wanted to go to this particular hair wash girl in the first place? This is getting a whole lot more difficult than it was supposed to be. Dang it, I am gonna end up washing my own hair aren't I?

Now, down to the facts and I will not bore you with them, I will however give them to you, if you want to read them. What Age Does to Your Hair

BTW, I didn't really have a bunch of salon photos, so, I figured why not use this particular post for some shameless self promotion. I hope you guys will stop by Trampleedesigns and see what is new this week.

Let me start this post by saying, I am not, nor will I ever be a professional blogger. I never set out to be one and I have no intentions of being one. I am however a professional talker and researcher. If I want to know something, I will pull out the ole computer and figure it out. I don't leave anything to chance and I don't take anyone's word for anything. I do my research. If it sounds like whooey, I look it up and I expect my readers to be the same way. Over time, I hope that people will learn that I will not post anything that I have not first researched and either failed at or screwed up royally myself. This blog is intended not to be some great masterpiece, but a journey of my misadventures and my way of sharing with you what I have gone through. So that maybe, just maybe, someone will benefit and not have such a difficult path. Life and Business are trial and error, if I can help your path to Business Success be just a little bit easier, then hey, I have done my job. I believe that we were all put here to help each other. Think of this as my way of passing it on.

To blog, or not to blog. According to Handmadeology, #23 of 50 Reasons You're Not Getting Etsy Sales , is because you aren't blogging. Of course, there are 49 completely legit other reasons why you could not have sales on Etsy or anywhere else for that matter.

This list is created solely for Etsy Seller. I want to discuss all Bloggers. If you are using a blog to promote your business. Let's discuss your main website first. Is it completely optimized? Is every single picture that you have there exactly as you would have it be? A picture on the internet, with your name attached is like a sex video with an ex that you now hate being put on Youtube. Trust me, I have learned this lesson the hard way. The minute you promote your business with bad pictures, you are promoting your brand badly. Forever, out there somewhere, are bad pictures of your product. You may say to yourself that it doesn't matter, you just need the money right now, the sales right now. What is more important? The long term branding of your label or that quick income? You are sacrificing the long term branding by posting those unclear, unfocused photos. I want to give you a link I came across recently about how Google ranks photos. It has some really interesting information on how you should prepare your photos for posting. This is of course after you have taken quality, well lit, clear photos of your products. I will work on getting a post together on light boxes and photo lighting in the next week or so.

Next, before you every leave your website or shop to promote, you want to make sure that your items are all titled, SEO'd and and the proper description. Once again. this is different for you if you have your own Website than if you are a seller on EtsyEtsy provides you with this great tool called the Sellers Handbook. Unfortunately, it is a link to a bunch of blogs, and if you aren't a super savvy "blog person", as I was not when I started my shop, it isn't the easiest thing to navigate. So, I am going to attempt to break it down a bit. This can help those NOT selling on Etsy as well, as I am just going to link you with the way to learn SEO (Search Engine Optimization) In other words, how your items is searched on the internet. If you have a pink flower purse for sale, You will want to have "pink flower purse" listed as one of your keywords so that when someone searches in Google for pink flower purse, they find yours.

Start Here
This guide will give you the basic nuts and bolts. From the very beginning.

Here are a couple of other useful guide's.

I would not use this last one, until you completely understand the first one.

Now.. Is your site in order? Is it EVERYTHING you want it to be? Something that you can be proud to promote? There is nothing at all that you would ever be afraid would come back and you would have to make an excuse for? Ok, now, do you still want to blog? You aren't completely and totally exhausted yet? Then maybe, just maybe you might actually want to be a blogger.

Getting started. Determining your platform. Some people prefer Wordpress, others Blogger, others have a preference to a different platform. It is completely and totally up to you. I only chose Blogger because I have a particular affinity to Google. It loves me, I love it back. I have all of my business stuff set up in Google and it makes things easier on me. That is just your first decision. Once you decide what platform you will use. You then have to set up your blog. This isn't as easy as it sounds. If you have not done it before, you might want to find your nearest teenager and have them help you. The official "Dummies" Series of how to use Blogger as a platform for blogging on how to do the set up to posting and link building and everything you could possibly need is here. If you have a logo for your shop or business, you will want to somehow incorporate it, if you don't, get busy on Canva and make a logo that somehow matches your shop logo and that way people will recognize that your blog is related to your shop.

Once you have your blog laid out and all set up, what will you talk about? Will you have the same old mommy blog? Will you just promote your stuff? Will you spend all day searching for interesting content? How will you get people to read it? You have to think about these things. How many times a day do you speak in your own home and realize that no one is listening to you? Guess what? You are about to talk to billions of people and none of them will be listening to you. You will have to find something interesting enough for them to listen to. You cannot even get your own spouse to listen, your own kids to listen, how on earth will you get an audience of thousands, hundreds of thousands to hear what you have to say? SPEAK UP... What is it that you have to say that could be so important? What is it that you have to share that could be so special that people will listen to you? FIND YOUR VOICE...

I, personally, write this blog, the way I speak. I am not here to have perfect grammar. I am not here to write a mommy blog. I am not here to do a blog on cakes and flowers. Not to say that if the mood hits me I won't do a post on cakes or flowers one day. Just saying, I am not, nor will I ever be Martha Stewart. I do however, have something to offer. I learn through trial and error, and I love sharing what I find. I love helping people and I love promoting talented individuals. That, I can do well. I take long pauses when I speak, indicated in my writing by a ... Anyone who knows me personally can actually hear it when they read my words. I don't search for content to add to my blog, I don't look for interesting things to write about. I wait for inspiration to hit, and it always does. I started this blog quite some time ago and it has just recently become a priority and an outlet. It has become an inspiration and a gift. I love the time that I spend writing and sharing. I love the feedback and the joy I receive from sharing a part of myself with each of you.

So, to answer the question of whether you should blog or not, I think for me, I would have to ask, is your heart in it? When the time is right, it will be. If it isn't, you might not want to. If it is.. Then lets get going.

Content - Just because I am an off the cuff writer, you will have to find content. You have to fill your pages with something. You have to create for yourself and your blog what they call links. I am going to make this as simple as possible and post a great video that very simply explains what you need to do and what the benefit is.

Once you figure out what to write about, you will want to add amazing photos. No matter what you write about, your photos will have to be beautiful or no one will click on your ad. I was recently turned onto Pixabay, they offer a massive amount of gorgeous free photos that you can download. You can then take them over to Canva and add words to them, put them together in a collage, use them as a promotional item, or just make up all kinds of fun stuff. I am so obsessed with Canva right now that it isn't even funny. I have posted pictures throughout this post that I pulled from Pixabay and edited in Canva. I wanted to give you an idea of what you could find and what you could do with each site. You can also find more options throughout the blog.

Now, once you have your blog and you create your content, you will have to figure out a way to make it successful. Good luck with that one. That is one of the Seven Wonders, I do believe. There are thousands of articles being written daily on this subject. Now, whether it is Marketing online or just general business advice, I look to one person who has always steered me in the right direction and that is Kim Garst, from Boom Social. She has books on Marketing for any platform you could possibly imagine and she is a genius. I read everything she posts, at least twice and follow her everywhere. I suggest you do the same. She has a guide on Blogging and doing so Successfully that I suggest you read over before getting started. Don't wait, like I did, until you have been doing it for months and have wasted a bunch of time. Do it right from the beginning... Ultimate Guide to Building a Successful Business Blog by Kim Garst

I wish you all the best of luck in your blogventures. I look forward to reading your work. Have a wonderful week and please stop by TRAMPLEEDESIGNS to see what is new this week.

Are You Ready for Tropical Paradise?

4:24 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

This week, I would like to introduce you to Marionette. She is the owner of the Shop KAUAIARTIST. In her shop you will find some of the most beautifully illustrated art pieces. Bright and tropical paintings, drawings and prints. There are flowers and ocean side scenes, sea life and tropical fruit. If you can imagine Tropical Paradise, that is what you will find in her artwork. The detail is impeccable, no matter the medium. She is obviously filled with talent.

Marionette lives on the island of Kauai and runs and art studio there. The studio "Painting Paradise" attracts locals as well as tourists to take classes. This gives her the ability to support her artistic endeavors and promote her own artwork as well. She let me know that she really wants to be "ohana" family to her students and give them new and exciting things to study.

She herself is always looking for new things to experience with her artwork. She let me know that she just recently discovered alcohol inks on Yupo paper and how much fun it is to play with. I, of course, had to go and look this up to see what she was talking about. She says that the inks make quite extraordinary designs on the paper and each creation has a life of its own. Marionette also like to experiment with watercolors, pastels, silk painting, encaustics, acrylics, reverse acrylics, sumi-e, Zentangle, and more. It seems to me that she is always looking for something wonderful and new to play around and experiment with. I can definitely appreciate that.

I asked her to share with me what her goals were, for herself, her life, her artwork. She sees herself basically just expanding on what she is already doing. Offering more classes in different mediums. Providing as much as she can to her community and the tourists that she encounters. It is a fabulous thing to be exactly where you would like to be in life. Who could ask for more?

I could not possibly do Marionette's artwork justice in this article. I would have to share every single item in here shop. Every single page unfolds something more beautiful than the page before. The only thing I can say is that you have to see it to appreciate it. Stop by KAUAIARTIST and check out her work for yourself, you will not be sorry that you did. You can also find her on her own website at or on FACEBOOKTWITTER, or PINTEREST. Thanks so much for stopping by..

If you have the time, you can stop by TRAMPLEEDESIGNS and see what I have new in the shop this week, I would appreciate it.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of Marionette's Artwork

When I looked at my shop yesterday, I decided that it was time to break down and find a banner. I decided to search the web. I Googled for Free Etsy Banners. Of course, the list was endless. I am very persistent and the only idiot on the internet that goes through ALL the pages. I searched them all. Looked at all the pages. I went through every single web page and what they offered. Picked out quite a few. I saw a lot of the same thing. I found a few "make your own" generic banner makers with so so graphics offered. I ended up with about 50 saved banner options in a folder on my desktop. I figured that I would go back to them when I was finished and look them all over, make a final decision. Then, the heavens opened up. I found CANVA .

CANVA is a website that I didn't find mentioned in any of the blogs I had visited. Let me mention that I had spent 8 hours already looking. Even the top Etsy blog, no one was recommending this site. CANVA is FREE and allows you to specify your size. Your Etsy Shop Banner will be 760px x 100px and provides for you the most up to day graphics you could possibly want. They have lines and squiggles and swirls and flowers and birds. Under the icons tab you can find any possible current cute graphic imaginable. If you search around inside their tabs, you will find every single thing you would possibly need to make the perfect banner for your shop. Here is what I came up with for mine.

CANVA also have templates available for you to make Facebook covers, ads and posts. I decided to make a cover that goes along with the theme of my shop banner. That way, if someone came across my Facebook and then saw my shop, or vice versa, they would recognize my logo and know that they had seen it before. ie.. Branding.. Here is what I came up with.

CANVA provides numerous other templates as well. I used the one for Twitter and for Google+ to create covers for in there as well.

I also created a Banner for the Blog. That was a little tricky. I had to figure out the exact size I needed to fit into the particular space. It was not a standard blog space. So, I ended up doing it a couple of times to make it fit properly. But, if you have a standard blog space, they have a template for that as well.

Now, the really cool stuff. As if that isn't cool enough all on it's own. CANVA has over a million graphics for you to choose from for free. You can do things like this

Just as a way to engage your fans and followers throughout the day on your Social Media sites. Or, you know those great quotes you see all the time on those beautiful pictures?

If you need to Advertise a Sale or Promote something, all the tools you need are right there in one place. This program is amazing. And free. I am telling you, it will be your new favorite toy. I am currently obsessed. I could not sleep last night because of all the things running through my mind that I wanted to make.

I hope you have as much fun with CANVA as I am. Send me pics on my Facebook of all the wonderful things you make. Please leave me a comment on here and tell me if you love it and share this with your friends..

Thanks, have a great day..

Spreading Love

I am not generally an earlier riser. Those of you that are a part of the AAA Support Team with me know this. My daily comments roll in around noon or later. I have problems sleeping at night. For many years now, I just seem to get more done when everyone else is settled in and it is quiet. I can relax, the phone doesn't ring, and I seem to be productive at 2 to 3 am.

Today, at 1pm, when I woke up. I had an amazing surprise. I had already been featured in 4 treasuries. My shop had tons of hits on it and it was all abuzz. I just love my teammates. They are the best. Etsy is all a flutter with RAK today. Random Acts Of Kindness everywhere. Shop Owners are visiting and treasuring each other just for the sake of doing so. Helping promote one another just because they can.

I love it when I see people spending more time promoting each other and not so focused on that "one sale". I tend to take the time to promote someone else if I realize my sales are down. I challenge you to do the same. Surprisingly, it works. When others see you promoting fellow Etsians and shop mates, the want to support you and help promote your shop and your endeavor. Don't spend so much time obsessed over your promotion. Spend some time giving to someone else today.

For ALL of you, whether you are an Etsian, an Artist, a Mom, A Dad, A Neighbor, a Friend, TODAY, WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?  I want you to give some thought to what one thing you could do to help someone out in your life. If you spent that minute helping them make their life easier instead of worrying about what would better yours, how would it impact them? and you?

Leave me a comment and tell me how it goes...

Have a wonderful and safe Labor Day...
