The First Tramp Lee Designs Handbag..

9:19 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

I just finished posting listing on my very first handbag. I am pretty proud of my baby. I am kind of a weird person when it comes to designing new bags. The truth is, I don't carry a purse, a handbag, any of the above. I carry a wallet with me at most. But, there is a reason for that, purses get on my nerves. There is always a problem with them. The strap is too short or too long. The shoulder strap won't adjust to fit me, therefore won't stay on my shoulder. Cross body bags have never fit me because I am plus size. So, once I started this journey of making handbags and realized how much of a passion I have for it, more so than anything else I have ever done. And you can ask anyone, I am pretty dang passionate. I give anything I do my all. I really have decided to try to fix the problems that I have with handbags, and purses in general. I am hoping that one day maybe I will make one perfect for me.. Who knows... Today, I want to introduce to you my very first actual handbag. I am very proud of it because it has straps that you can adjust the size on. I have them tied in bows in the pictures, which some will find to be cute and others tacky. You can also knot them if the bow is a bit much for you. The point of them is that you can set them at whatever length you want,  as often as you want.. I know that depending on where you are and what you are doing, some days, you want to be able to hold your bag in your hand and not have it dragging to low or too far away from your hand. Other days, you need to be able to wear it on your shoulder comfortably. This handbag gives you that freedom. I really hope you guys like them...

The Art of Being a Bitch...

3:25 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

I sit here in my studio, IE.. my apartment all day and I spend way too much time online and see sooo many things. Some of the things just drive me crazy. And, since this is MY blog, I get to talk about them freely. Yippee...

If you are using Social Media as a means to promote your business and you consider yourself an expert on the subject, make sure that on your sites and listing, you are spelling the words, Social, Media, Enthusiast, Expert, and any others associated, correctly. My programs all have this little squiggly line that pops up and tells me I am spelling something wrong. These things are a gift that make it possible for us to not be geniuses and correct errors for us. Put your best, spelled correctly, foot forward...

Now, without going on a ten page rant, those who know me, know I am long winded, I just have one more topic to discuss. I know that people like to be the face of their business, but, if the only photo that you have, or can take, make you look as though you are possibly a serial killer or maybe an ax murderer, you might not want to be the face of your brand. Maybe a nice happy family shot? A flower? Something not so scary?

Sorry, I just had to...

I hope everyone is having a great day, please take this post and all post in the lighthearted manner in which they are intended... Unless of course you are a serial killer, take me seriously, quit trolling the internet..

New Handbag

4:03 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

I haven't been around for past few days because it has been nose to the grindstone. I have had a concept in my head for a new bag and bringing it to fruition was a task. It is my first actual full size handbag. I am incredibly proud of it. I have only made the first, kink worker outer, I call it. That one that you have to put together to figure out what you need to fix about the bag. It has absolutely showed me what I need to do. I need a fusible interfacing and a little bit wider opening. But, this is my latest bag, and actual handbag. I will be starting to put them into the shop, hopefully sometime next week...

I hope everyone has a wonderful St Patty's Day.. Don't party too hard and if you do, have a designated driver. Be safe and responsible...

My Weekend Project...

9:57 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

THE OLD WHITE TABLE

My dear friend Darlene had an old table sitting on her back porch that she was taking to the dump. It was old, but solid wood and just needed some painting. I didn't care about the wood table top, which could be sanded and stained to make beautiful if needed, but, I need if for a new cutting table. The legs had white paint chipping paint off of it. Although I did not really care about the aesthetics, I do not want my pup getting any paint chips, soooo, I had myself a project on my hands...
I lightly sanded of shine and removed any chipping pieces from table base and then added painters tape.
After removing the legs, I removed all paint chips with a scraper , and sanded lightly, just enough to take the shine off.
I wiped the legs off well and got them ready to paint first coat.

I chose a French blue as my first color.

Once the paint was dry, I sanded the shine of this layer of paint and scuffed through some of it to where the chip marks were showing. and in some places, make it where you could see the white.

I did not focus on painting the legs perfectly, because I knew that I was going to just be painting over them, the next two coats were Soft Suede and Leather Brown. I picked those colors, because I had them here in the house.

Once all of the paint was dry, I sanded the legs and table to make the under paints appear in different areas. I think it came out cool looking. And the best part, I have a new table to cut my fabrics...

Proper Business Etiquette

8:43 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

I may not know a ton about the whole internet part of marketing and running a business online. But, running a business in general, making a business successful and thrive, especially when it is failing, is what I do best. I love to turn things around. There are a few things about this whole Social Media game that I have found to be very disturbing. I have seen and been in contact with some absolutely amazing Social Media "Experts" over the past few months. I have also encountered some people who claim to be in the Social Media Marketing Business that are giving HORRIBLE advice. Let's back up and be logical about this.

I have seen numerous places telling people and businesses to gain followers on Twitter by following people and then once they follow you back, un follow them. And, I have watched numerous fellow Etsians following this advice.
Let's break this down. This is the computer equivalent to reaching out to shake someone's hand and then pulling your hand back when they reach for it and running it through your greasy hair. There is nothing more unprofessional looking or that could make you look less trustworthy. Why would you damage your reputation with a possible customer just for the sake of followers? I would rather have 5 followers that all want to shop than 500 who are only there because they want more followers. The point of social media is to build a steady, reliable, trusting image of your business, getting your brand name out there in a positive way, and gaining exposure to those people who will potentially purchase the items you sell. No part of that has to do with having the most followers on Twitter.

Purchasing followers. This is another thing that is constantly being recommended and sold, by so called Marketing People. Most of these names are fake and they truly don't do anything for your business because they aren't buying anything from you. Twitter will flag these names for inactivity within a matter of weeks and delete them for being fake accounts. It is just a waste of money.

Spend the time necessary to get your brand name into as many places as you can. It takes time, it takes work. But, anything in life worth having does.. And, it's worth it... When you are done, the people who are following you will be people who respect you and are interested in your items.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend...

HEY YOU, CANCERFACE...

11:36 PM Tammie Rampley 0 Comments

I know that I have been somewhat absent for about a week. I apologize. There has been a bit of chaos here at the "shack".. First and foremost, while in the mist of combating a horrible asthmatic cough, only to find out I have mold in all of my air ducts.. Yippeeee.. Problem being fixed by the PROfesionals... We shall see.. I went in to see my physician. He was not available to see me for the cough and I was sent to his Nurse Practitioner. While there, I showed her this spot that had come up in early November on my face. My doctor had checked it out mid November on a routine visit and said it was nothing to be concerned about, if it changed, get with him about it. Well, it had started to get scaly and kind of scabby. I showed it to her, she conferred that I needed to see a specialist. So, end of the week, what will be two weeks ago now, I get this referral letter from my Dr's office that reads, Appt. Skin Cancer Specialty Center, blah blah address, March 6, "for skin cancer on right cheek"... Her and I had not even discussed the possibility of it being cancer, just the fact that it was something that we might need to have looked at. In my mind, when I saw this letter, I felt for sure she must have thought that is what it was. Otherwise, why would anyone have ever sent something like this to a patient. WAIT, even if they thought it was cancer, WHY would you ever send something like that to a patient in the mail? As you can imagine, the past week and a half have not been fun. I have been on a bit of a roller coaster emotionally. Half the time I don't even know what I feel. I am making a point of not saying anything to anyone until I see the specialist. My family is, how do I say, not lacking in the drama department. I am dramatic enough, I do not need them being all dramatic on top of it. So, I finally make it to today, my appointment day. I am up at the crack of dawn, which in and of it self is nothing less than a miracle. I am nervous. Oh wait, I forgot to mention the wonderful and reassuring news that my property owner gave me about his skin cancer. I did, just last night have to tell my property owner because I needed to get the point across to him that he really needed to have my ducts cleaned out professionally. He informed me that he had a small melanoma on his chest and all that they had to do was take a quarter size chunk out and he has been fine for years. Oh my word, I have been soooooooo freaked out since he said that, a quarter size chunk, out of my face? Can you imagine what that would look like. I don't find myself to be particularly vain, but, I can imagine people would really look at you weird. He of course did not know when he said it that it was on my cheek. The time finally came, they called my name for me to go back in the office. My skin was crawling, I was so nervous. I don't sit in the back office for barely any time. He walks in, looks at it, says that is a blah blah blah waxy, I will freeze it and it will be gone in a few days.. Freeze freeze zap, "you made my job easy today young lady" boop, I was done. I was so mad at myself for being so nervous and allowing the fact that the whomever at my dr's office that wrote the letter to get me so upset about something that wasn't even reality. It goes to show how much stress we put on ourselves...lol.. I hope you guys are having a great week..
